CROWN OF THORNS FEST

The naming 'Crown of Thorns Fest' came about when Dana had a 'light bulb' moment that he shared with the others and it stuck! It seemed to fit in perfectly with their desire to CELEBRATE JESUS along with all he has done for us while at the same time present an invitation to anyone & everyone to join in the banquet of the king. Bringing in talented musicians who have the kindred spirit of 'inviting' others to join us in the journey completes the mission. This is done as a FREE EVENT OPEN TO EVERYONE held primarily in Public Parks relying on sponsors & donations throughout the year. Donations are never solicited at events, and is a volunteer based endeavor with everyone from the Board members to the Security Team and the Merch's serving as volunteers.

Project 22:9 - The Begining

The inception of 'Project 22:9' resulted when the guys decided they needed to do something a little different to reach out & make a change in the world. Their inspiration comes from Matthew 22:9, where Jesus is encouraging his followers to 'Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find'. So that's what they decided to do... their method would be to bring in Christian Rock, Hip Hop, & Rap groups FREE OF CHARGE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC who have been gifted with telling the story of a Savior who came to seek & save the lost and bring them home to the banquet of the King. AND SO 'CROWN OF THORNS FEST' WAS BORN

ABOUT US

'Crown of Thorns Fest' is an annual Christian Rock Festival held at Pioneer Park, in Billings MT (one of the many beautiful parks withing the city of Billings) The Festival is and always has been 100% FREE & OPEN to the public, and is sponsered by 'Project 22:9' , a Christian non-profit Organization. The Festival features some of the hottet and rising Christian bands (primarily Rock Genre) locally as well as nation wide. Some of the past lineups have included, Bayless, Disciple, Relent, Spoken, The Protest, Whitecross & Zahna.

Crown of Thorns Fest was started by 3 friends who became acquainted over 15 years ago who saw the need to reach out to a lost, and hopeless wolrd with the love & good news of Jesus Christ. It seemed only natural since each one of them had their own 'life changing' experience from an encounter with the Savior. Not that their lives became perfect, but more importantly their lives became of greater value to themselves as they experienced the forgivenss of a Savior who paid the ultimate price to set them free from their bondage to sin and its daily destruction. 'If we confess our sins he is faithful & just to forgive us our sins & cleanse us from all unrighteousness', I Jonh 1:9. It is this 'free gift' that they want others to experience, as it is written, 'if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed' John 8:36. They invite you to join them our their journey into following the footsteps of a loving Savior 'who came not to be served, but to serve & to give his life as a ransom for others', Mark 10:45 .
